Founder-owned since 2002
James and Jamie Hutchings started Southwest Blinds & Shutters in 2002 after a layoff changed the direction of their young family. More than two decades later, the company is larger, but the standard remains personal: listen carefully, explain the real choices, and help customers feel confident about the people they are inviting into their home.
James was born and raised in Las Vegas. Today, our local Las Vegas team is backed by the training, systems, and experience of the broader Southwest organization James and Jamie have built.
Meet the people behind Southwest →Start with the room
Most homeowners start with a problem, a photo they like, or a room that does not feel finished. That is enough. We can work backward from the light, privacy, look, and daily use to find the right product.

Roller shades keep the window quiet and let the room or view get the attention.

Woven materials and softer fabrics add texture without making the room feel heavy.

A room-darkening shade can solve the light problem while drapery gives the bedroom a finished look.
Southwest private label
Retreat, Serenity, Celeste, and Elements each begin with a different design point of view. Every collection can be motorized when the selected specifications are compatible.

Where motorization is worth it
A motor should solve a real problem. It should make a window easier to use, help manage sun or privacy, or support a routine you will actually use. If a simple cordless shade makes more sense in a room, we will tell you that too.
Large shades, wide doors, and groups of windows are where pushing one button can make a noticeable difference.
A useful schedule can close the west-facing shades before the room heats up or lower bedroom shades at the same time each night.
High windows are a strong reason to motorize, but we also have to plan how the motor will be powered and serviced later.
You do not have to motorize the entire house. We often put motors where they earn their cost and coordinate simpler shades in the other rooms.

Energy efficiency in the desert
Las Vegas homes often feel the problem first at west-facing glass, wide sliding doors, and high windows. We can help you compare fabrics and products, then decide whether a simple remote or compatible schedule will make the plan easier to use consistently.
We explain the research and the limitations. We do not promise a specific utility-bill reduction.
What customers notice
These reviews are useful because they describe the entire experience—not only the finished shade.

Compare the products
Roller shades, cellular shades, Romans, woven shades, drapery, blinds, and shutters all look and operate differently. We will show you what each one does well and where the tradeoffs begin.

LUTRONLutron is usually the conversation when a customer wants the shades, lighting, keypads, schedules, and home automation to work together as one dependable system. We are a licensed Lutron shading dealer, and we help plan the window treatments around the home—not as equipment added at the end.
Premium wire-free shades can add Lutron control without automatically requiring the walls to be opened.
Planning early gives us more choices for wiring, recessed pockets, keypads, and cleaner finished details.
Shades and lighting can work together through controls that are intuitive for the family and guests.
A realistic place to start
We can give you a useful planning range without pretending every window costs the same. The size and number of shades matter, but so do the fabric, motor, power, controls, mounting conditions, and level of integration.
A few important windows or one room where motorization solves the clearest problem.
Motorize the rooms that matter most and coordinate quality cordless shades elsewhere.
More windows, upgraded fabrics, grouped controls, premium automation, or Lutron integration.
What moves the investment
Prioritizing the rooms you use most, combining motorized and cordless products, and choosing straightforward controls can keep the plan focused.
See what the ranges can include, what changes the final price, and how to plan the project around the rooms that matter most.
Read the full guide →These are broad planning ranges—not a quote or a per-window price. After we see the windows and confirm the products, we give you the exact scope and price before you make a decision.
How we make this easier
Tell us which windows are too bright, hard to reach, missing privacy, or simply do not feel finished.
Your designer brings samples and helps you compare the product, fabric, motor, charging, controls, and installation in your own home.
We measure the windows, confirm the system, and give you the final scope and price before you decide.
Your project stays with our team
We use full-time employee installers—not subcontractors. That gives us more control over training, communication, workmanship, and what happens if something needs attention after installation.

Straight answers
No. For many customers, a dependable handheld remote is the best answer. Apps, schedules, voice control, and home automation are optional. We only add them when they make the shades easier to use.
Usually not. We often start with large shades, high windows, primary bedrooms, great rooms, or the windows used every day. Other rooms can use coordinated cordless products and still look like part of the same home.
Rechargeable shades can be a clean retrofit choice, but every battery eventually loses capacity. The charging connection, window height, furniture, expected use, warranty, and future motor replacement should all be discussed before ordering.
Fabric looks different in your light, and motorization depends on the actual window. We need to see the size, mounting surface, access, outlets or wiring, furniture, and how you use the room before we can recommend the right system.
Yes. You can visit either Las Vegas Valley showroom, and your designer will bring relevant samples to the home. You will know the product, controls, installation plan, and exact price before you decide.
